Contact lenses fall into two main categories, soft and gas permeable.

Soft lenses

These tend to be the first choice for the majority of people as they are convenient and easy to adapt to. They are available in daily, fortnightly or monthly options and there are also designs to correct astigmatism (toric) and presbyopia (multifocal). Also, with the introduction of healthier silicon hydrogel materials, patients are able to wear lenses for longer periods of time.
