Contact Lenses

Advances in contact lens technology means the majority of people can wear contact lenses whether it’s for full time wear or occasionally for sport or social events. Some lenses also protect your eyes against UV damage. As an independent optician we are not linked to any particular manufacturer and as a result can help to select the best lens on the market for your needs. Contact lenses fall into two main categories, soft and gas permeable.

These tend to be the first choice for the majority of people as they are convenient and easy to adapt to. They are available in daily, fortnightly or monthly options and there are also designs to correct astigmatism (toric) and presbyopia (multifocal). Also, with the introduction of healthier silicon hydrogel materials, patients are able to wear lenses for longer periods of time.

This type of lens gives excellent vision and comfort to some patients with more complex prescriptions. Like soft lenses they are also available in different designs for different refractive problems eg astigmatism (toric) and presbyopia (multifocal).
